A Stellar and Diverse Winning Record at the 2014 Scottsdale Show

At the 2014 Scottsdale Show the Cedar Ridge and Ames-bred Arabians and half-Arabians did exceptionally well. Among the 19 successfully shown horses, there were trophies or ribbons acquired in 11 major performance divisions and in Halter. Although there were a great many thrilling and emotional victories for these horses and their owners and handlers during the ten days of the show, several stood out and caught the spotlight.

Toi Sensation CRF (Matoi x Alpha Phi) won the HA English Pleasure AAOTR 40 & Over and then came back to take the Championship roses in the same class. STLA Hey’s Dance Class (Hey Hallelujah x Ferschask) won the Arabian Sport Horse Mares In-Hand Six Years & Older and the Mares In-Hand Championship. Dunit On Fyre RA (Brenna’s Golden Dunit x Fyre in the Sky) won both the HA Reining Junior Horse Hackamore/Snaffle Bit class and the Championship. In fact, the Reining Pen turned out to be a real hot spot for the Ames’ Reining horses, with Take A Spin (What It Takes x Minding Ps and Qs) winning five firsts and a second in this division, including roses in the Arabian Reining Horse Championship JTR 15-18 and the Reining Seat Equitation Championship JTR 15-18, as well as a Reserve Championship in the Western Horsemanship JTR 15-18.

One of the “hats off” best performances at the Reining Arena belonged to All Maxed Out RA (HH Maxemus x Marliera) winner of the 2014 Scottsdale Arabian Reining Futurity. Winning half-sibling to All Maxed Out RA is Gone N Dunit RA (Brennas Golden Dunit x Marliera), Top Ten in the HA Reining Horse Bitted, Limit Rider AATR and AAOTR Championships.  Another Ames-bred winner by HH Maxemus is Miss Maximus (x She Dun Slid), Reserve Champion in the HA Reining Horse Championship, JTR 14 & Under. Miss Maximus was also a Top Ten in the Western Horsemanship Championship, JTR 14 & Under, 2nd in the HA Reining Horse JTR 14 & Under, and 4th in the Limit Rider AATR. Additional Ames-bred big winners in the Reining Futurity Classic HA competition were full sibling Top Tens: Dun With Style RA and Ben There Dunthat RA, both sired by Brennas Golden Dunit out of Minding Ps And Qs. Minding Ps And Qs is also the dam of Top Ten HA Reining Futurity Classic winner, Dunit My Way RA (Hollywood Dunit). Note that that “Style” and “Ben There” are also paternal half-siblings to the previously mentioned winners, Take A Spin and Dunit On Fyre RA. Among these special Ames’ Reining winners it’s a small and closely-related world!

If you took a short walk at Westworld up the hill from the Reining Pen to those rings that feature English riding you would have been introduced to even more Ames-bred winners at the Scottsdale show. Multi-champion Toi Talent (Matoi x Feather Talent) competed successfully in a marathon of seven classes, taking Top Ten honors in the Country English Walk/Trot Championship 10 & Under, Saddle Seat Equitation Championship JTR 14 & Under and the HA Country English Championship JOTR 14 & Under. Final One CRF (Brass x Endless Love) was also a Top Ten in the Country English Walk/Trot 10 & Under and took 2nd in the class. Noble Edition CRF (A Noble Cause x HV Trinidoll) ribboned well in six classes and took Top Ten honors in the Country English Championship JOTR 15-18 and the Saddle Seat Equitation Championship JTR 15-18. Ames Lora (Afire Bey V x G Kallora) was Top Ten in the Country English Championship AAOTR 36-54 and Top Ten (3rd) in the English Show Hack Championship. Also in the Show Hack division, Ames Encounter (Brass x CR Berry Brandy) was named Top Ten in the English Show Hack Championship JTR 18 & Under and in the Native Costume Championship JTR 18 & Under. Finally, Populace CRF (Pogrom x Ames Mirage) took a Top Ten in the Scottsdale Signature Stallion Championship Yearling Arabian Colts/Geldings, ATH.  Those taking home hard-earned class ribbons included Brass Star (Brass x CB Shining Star) in Pleasure Driving ATD, Ames City Slicker+ (Brass x Alpha Phi) in HA Hunter Pleasure JTR 15-18, and Al Patino CRF (DA Valentino x Alpha Phi) in HA Hunter Pleasure Junior Horse, 5-Year-Olds.
